The Patrol and Community Policing Division provides continuous 24-hour service throughout neighborhoods, business districts, parks, and riverfront recreation areas. Officers are assigned to geographic patrol zones to build familiarity with residents, recurring concerns, and daily patterns of activity. This allows officers to work directly with residents to identify safety priorities and respond to issues early, before they become larger problems.
Community policing emphasizes strong partnerships and visibility. Officers attend neighborhood association meetings, participate in block events, visit schools, and work with small business owners to maintain safe, welcoming environments. Patrol teams regularly walk the riverfront trail system and downtown areas to support public presence and encourage positive interaction.
In addition to routine patrol, the division provides directed patrols in response to traffic trends, neighborhood concerns, seasonal events, youth recreation activities, and downtown nightlife. Officers also collaborate with social service partners and outreach organizations to support residents who may be experiencing housing instability, mental health challenges, or safety-related hardship.
The goal of Patrol and Community Policing is to reinforce trust, promote consistent communication, and ensure that every neighborhood in Silver Falls feels connected, supported, and safe.
